Söderhamn Eriksson chipper canter is intended for the plane reduction of logs ahead of the saws. It may also be used for the production in one machine of timbers and sleepers. Plane reduction offers a number of advantages: simplification of further handling along the production line; increased output from the saws; the elimination of four kerfs, which become chips instead of sawdust; and the elimination of slab handling and chipping arrangements.
